Clean Power, Clean Lines: Solar Refit for a 2015 Tiara Coupe 44

The 2015 Tiara Coupe 44 is a boat built to turn heads, so any electrical upgrade had to earn its place without compromising the vessel’s clean profile. The goal for this project was straightforward: add meaningful solar charging capacity and give the owner real visibility into the boat’s power system, all while keeping the installation as unobtrusive as possible.

Four LightLeaf 140W rigid solar panels were mounted using low-profile bolted stand-off kits, keeping the array flush and clean against the boat’s lines rather than sitting proud on bulky racks. The panels feed into a Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 charge controller, which manages charging efficiently across varying sun conditions — important on a boat where shading from the hardtop and radar arch can shift throughout the day.

To round out the system, a Victron BMV-712 Smart battery monitor was installed, giving the owner a clear, real-time picture of state of charge, power consumption, and charging performance — solving the common problem of a solar array going in without any way to actually see what it’s doing for you.

The result is a system that adds real charging capacity and battery visibility while staying true to what makes this Tiara stand out in the first place: it looks as good as it did before, just with a lot more capability built in.
